Yira Sor transfers to KRC Genk

Nigerian striker’s move to Belgium was finished on Friday, 30 December.

After one year in red and white Yira Sor moves to KRC Genk – currently the leaders of Belgian Jupiler Pro League – after the 22-year-old Nigerian striker became one of the biggest prospects of the Czech Fortuna Liga.

Sor came to Czechia from Nigerian 36 Lions FC for the 2020/21 season. A year later he started playing the top division for Baník Ostrava scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists in the autumn part of 2021/22. For the second half of the season, he already joined Slavia and shone especially in the UEFA Europa Conference league scoring 6 goals in the 6 games of the knockout stage against Fenerbahce, LASK and Feyenoord. He also added one goal in the Fortuna Liga Champions’ Group against his former club Baník.

On the beginning of this season, he scored twice against St. Joseph’s in the UECL qualifying round before suffering an injury which has eliminated him until October. In the rest of the autumn part of the season he started to 8 games, most of them from the bench.

We wish Yira the best of luck in Belgium and thank him for all the beautiful moments in Slavia!
