The club from Pot 3 finished 4th in the last season of the Israeli first league. Hapoel played the Group Stage of UEFA Europa League twice, both time against Czech opponents (Sparta and Viktoria Plzeň). They lost all their encounters with the Czech clubs, but this year eliminated Plzeň in the UEL Play-off after a 1-0 home win.
