Tomáš Souček leaves for West Ham

Midfielder Tomáš Souček leaves Slavia after 14 years and will continue in English Premier League.

Tomáš Souček leaves Slavia and moves to West Ham United. The clubs agreed on half-season loan of 24-year old midfielder which could continue as permanent transfer in case West Ham will not be relegated to the Championship. The Hammers are currently 17th in the English Premier League table.

“Slavia will receive 4.5 mil. € for the loan and additional 16.2 mil. € in case the move will continue as permanent transfer after the end of the season. We are excited and sad at the same time. We will miss Tomáš as captain, player and as a great man. It will not be easy to replace him, but it is good sign for Slavia and for Czech football,” said Jaroslav Tvrdík, Slavia Chairman of Board.

Tomáš Souček joined Slavia at the age of 10 and is leaving the club after 14 long years. “I was really happy in Slavia, I kept thinking that it cannot be any better. Playing for Slavia opened the door to the national team for me, concerning both my football and personal life, I could not be happier here,” Souček said in his last interview.

“Now there is a huge challenge in front of me, I compared the pros and contras and decided to accept this challenge. I spoke to many people and we all agreed that this is the right time to move abroad. Especially when I can try to play in the English Premier League which has always been my dream competition. All these factors outweighed the fact that I am leaving my beloved Slavia,” Souček added.
