Taras Kacharaba joins the red-whites on loan

Ukrainian defender is coming to Slavia from Slovan Liberec on half-year loan with an option for permanent transfer.

“I am glad I can be here. Slavia is the best club in Czechia and their ambitions are always big. My goal here is to help the team and to please the fans with my performance,” says the 25-year old centre-back.

Kacharaba made an impression in Slovan Liberec during the autumn part of 2020/21 season in the Czech Fortuna Liga and in the UEFA Europa League. He joins Slavia on loan till the end of the season with an option for a permanent transfer.

Earlier this week Ondřej Karafiát went in the opposite direction and joined Slovan Liberec on loan.

“Taras Kacharaba gained valuable experience in the Europa League this season and made a significant progress in his career. After Ondřej Karafiát did not make many caps in the autumn part of the season, this change appeared to be an ideal solution. We believe Taras will establish himself in Slavia as an important member of the team,” said Slavia Sports Director Jiří Bílek.

Taras Kacharaba (born 7 January 1995) started his career in Hoverla Uzhhorod in 2014/15 before moving To Shakhtar Donetsk and playing for youth squads. During his spell at Shakhtar, Kacharaba made several caps in the UEFA Youth League as well as for Ukraine U19 and U20 national team. In 2017/18 he joined Slovan Liberec in the Czech first league on loan which turned into a permanent transfer in summer 2019.

The Ukrainian centre-back started to 97 games for Liberec. This season he played 10 league games and 7 UEFA Europa League games scoring 3 goals against Gent, Teplice and Opava.
