Slavia Museum officially opened

On 1 November – the eve of Slavia 126th birthday – the club officially opened Slavia Museum in Eden. The 2-storey Museum houses more than thousand artefact from Slavia history and present.
Such a project is unique in Czech football. The 2-storey museum has floor space of more than 1.200 square meters and houses more than thousand artefacts such as shirts, cups, books or photos.

“The dream of many generations of Slavia fans and members became reality. We spent almost three years preparing the Museum and I believe that Slavia fans will be proud of it. Club with such a tradition deserved it,” Slavia chairman of board Jaroslav Tvrdík said during the opening ceremony.

The lower part of Museum contains 29 big TV screens and giant video-wall showing many unpublished videos as well as documentary films, famous goals and reviews of notable games.

Thanks to cooperation with former players, their families and many collectors Slavia gathered e.g. famous shirt of legendary goalkeeper František Plánička from 1934 World Cup Final, František Veselý’s shirt from EURO 1976, where Czechoslovakia won golden medals, or original ball from the game between Brazil and Czechoslovakia signed by Pelé.

There are many notable shirts on display in Slavia Museum (José Antonio Camacho from the game between Slavia and Real Madrid, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Thomas Vermaelen from famous UCL qualifier between Slavia and Ajax, Vladimír Šmicer’s Liverpool shirt from 2005 Champions League Final with AC Milan, or signed Juventus shirts by Cristiano Ronaldo and Pavel Nedvěd donated by former captain of Czech national team and current Juventus manager himself).
