Ondřej Karafiát becomes our first summer signing

25-year old defender joins Slavia after the end of his contract in Slovan Liberec.

Ondřej Karafiát signed contract in Slavia until 30 June 2024. He will continue in his work under the manager Jindřich Trpišovský who led him earlier in Viktoria Žižkov and Slovan Liberec.

25-year old universal defensive player started his senior career in Sparta but made his maiden senior appearance in 2014/15 on loan to Viktoria Žižkov under current Slavia manager Trpišovský. The following season started Karafiát on another loan, this time to Dynamo České Budějovice, but after half a year he moved to Slovan Liberec on permanent transfer. There he met again with Jindřich Trpišovský. In Liberec, he made 127 caps, scored 2 goals and made 6 assists. In 2016/17 he played the Group Stage of UEFA Europa League.

“I have a great motivation. When you come here and see the stadium, the museum, you can feel the world football. You can see that Slavia is a big club and I just hope I will experience the same as the lads did the last season. Because there is nothing more than the Champions League. I will do my best so that these experiences would return,” Karafiát said after his signing.
