Off to Israel

Slavia left for Israel for their opening game of UEFA Europa League. The red-whites will play against Beer Sheva on Thursday.

Slavia first team left for Tel Aviv on Tuesday evening. The game against Haopel Beer Sheva will be played on Thursday, 22 October, at 6:55 pm in Petah Tikva.

The players were preparing individually, the whole first team returned to common training after last Covid-19 tests showed no positive result. “Was it something new we could have been surprised, but we are getting used to. The lads got their individual training plans and they all fulfil them on 100%. We went through this already during the spring Covid break,” first-team assistant coach Zdeněk Houštecký said.

And what kind of opponent Slavia expect? “Czech fans have already seen them this year when they eliminated Viktoria Plzeň. They do not lack quality in the offense, and they have skilled and very quick players. But they cannot surprise us, we studied their style of play. We believe in our own skills and I hope we will get all three points there which help us to the next European games,” Houštecký continued.

Slavia will follow with another game just a week later against Bayer Leverkusen. What are the odds in the Group C? “The group is very strong, there are Nice from France and Bayer from Germany, and if we want to qualify further, we should get all six points against Beer Sheva. But we don’t underestimate them, we only know we go there to win because it is a key to qualify to the spring part of Europa League,” Slavia assistant coach added.

Slavia will have their pre-match training and official press conference on Wednesday, 21 October. The game on Thursday will be broadcasted by Nova Sport 1 in the Czech Republic.
