Norwegian talent Christos Zafeiris joins Slavia

19-year-old Norwegian midfielder Christos Zafeiris signs contract with the red-whites until 30 June 2027.

“My goal is to show people here that I am a good player. That I can play from the beginning and be an important team member. And then there are the team goals, to win, to qualify for the Champions League and to play the European competitions. Also, to win the league and the cup. I cannot wait to start playing for Slavia. It is a great club, I am happy to be here and I am looking forward to gaining experience here,” Zafeiris said.

The Norwegian signed a four-and-a-half year long contract at Eden. He joins Slavia from Haugesund, the 10th team of the last season of Norwegian Eliteserien, when he helped the team with 4 goals and 5 assists last year. In 2022 he was involved in 20% of all team goals and was voted the player of the year.

Talented midfielder was born in Athens, Greece, and started his career in Panathinaikos. At the age of 9 he moved to Norway. He played for Valerenga before joining Grorud in second division in January 2020. In 2021 he moved to Haugesund and a year later he joins us in Slavia.

Zafeiris is a member of Norwegian U21and will play at the EURO this year where Norway meets Ukraine, Israel and Georgia. In U16 he also shortly represented Greece.

Slavia drew 0–0 with Athletic Bilbao in the 5th round of the Champions League league phase. Jindřich Staněk delivered an exceptional performance, denying the Basque club four clear goal-scoring opportunities. After five matches, the Red-Whites have three points from three draws.

Slavia defeated Bohemians in front of 18,992 spectators at Fortuna Arena and continue to lead the Chance Liga table. The Vršovice derby was decided in the first half, with goals from Tomáš Chorý and Štěpán Chaloupek (the latter deflected in by Okeke). In the second half, Lukáš Provod scored a stunning strike, while Zeman pulled one back for the visitors.
