New yet traditional: Introducing the Star as a new club logo
The club will celebrate it’s 130th anniversary this autumn and as a part of this event revealed its new visual identity. The logo will change after 26 years of using the round emblem with red and white halves and a red star inside the white half.
Five-pointed star standing on the top has been representing Slavia since its foundation, accompanied by the red and white colour. It’s been on our shirts since the very firs official football game in 1896 (and creates the oldest shirt design which is still in use today). The five-pointed star as a logo is also explicitly mentioned in the association memorandum of Slavia sports club. New logo thus presents return to basics while corresponding with current trends in graphic design and football club’s visual presentation.
Club’s colours and the star created basis for the new logo. It was made by Prague-based design and communication studio Touch Branding under head designer Neil Johnston and creative director Martin Marušinec and in close cooperation with the club and several creative supervisors from marketing branch.
The main red star in the logo is accompanied by two golden stars representing 21 Czech and Czechoslovak titles won by the club. “Slavia” wordmark will be used in some cases using special Slavia Headline font based on Wallop font created by Martin Vácha from Displaay type foundry.
The new logo will be used across the club’s communication as well as in domestic and European competitions since the start of 2022/23 season. Examples of visual identity can be seen on special website.
