Leaving for Glasgow

Slavia left for Glasgow for the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 second leg against Rangers.

On Thursday night Slavia will face Rangers FC at Ibrox in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16. The first game ended in a 1-1 draw when Stanciu and Helander were on target.

“I am looking forward for such a game. Everybody is looking forward. We travel in a good mood after the Sunday game lifted our mood. We were satisfied with the result and with our style of play. Simon Deli started and he played a great game. Everything was fine in the defence and up front too and we are glad for it,” said Slavia coach Zdeněk Houštecký.

Rangers on the other hand did not play any game at the weekend. “It’s hard to say if it’s better for them. I think the good game against Boleslav helped us a lot.”

No more health problems emerged after the weekend game. “All players who are on the Europa League squad are ready, so we are leaving as we planned. It was a hard game, and we have some minor injuries, but no one is in the state not to be able to start on Thursday.”

“Slavia conceded an unlucky goal in the opening leg which complicates the Red-whites’ position for the away game. “The tie is still open, but the conceded goal put us in the less favourable position. On the other side, we know that when we win, we progress to the next round. And after a 2-2 draw, we progress too. Scoring a goal will be the key, and I believe we can make it,” Houštecký added shortly before the departure at the Prague Václav Havel Airport.
