Krmenčík signs one-year loan with Slavia

28-year old striker with 5 league titles from Czechia and Belgium joins the Red-Whites on one-year loan.

Michael Krmenčík spent his last season in PAOK on loan from Club Brugge. The loan to Slavia comes with mandatory option when the Red-Whites qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season.

In the Czech Republic Krmenčík was raised in Viktora Plzeň. He joined the West Bohemian club in the youth age from Baník Sokolov and made his debut for the first team in 2010/11 when Viktoria surprisingly won their first Czech title.

“I feel great, I could return home and when Slavia called, it was the only choice for me. I am looking forward to working with manager Trpišovský. I would like to win another title, to be useful member of the team and I would also like the fans to grow fond of me,” said Krmenčík on his first day at Eden.

In the following seasons he left for several loans – to Sokolov, Čáslav or Vlašim in the Czech second division. For 2013/14 he joined Baník Ostrava and in the following season he moved to Dukla Praha. He scored 8 goals in 25 games for Dukla and after one year and a half he returned to Viktoria Plzeň.

He quickly became one of the key players for Plzeň most successful era. In 2016 he lifted another Czech title with Viktoria and in 2017/18 he became top scorer of the Czech league with 16 goals (22 across all competitions). In 2018/19 he managed to score 7 goals in 13 league games and netted twice in the UEFA Champions League before a knee injury interrupted his career.

After his return on the pitch, he kept scoring for Plzeň which earned him a transfer to Club Brugge on the beginning of 2020. After a year in which Bruges won the Belgian title Krmenčík joined PAOK on loan. He scored 9 goals in 28 caps for the Greek side including the match-winner in the Greek Cup final against Olympiakos.

Michael Krmenčík made 33 caps for the Czech national team, including 4 starts on EURO 2020, scoring 9 goals. In the Czech league, he scored 54 goals in 127 games.
