Jaromír Zmrhal joins Brescia Calcio

Slavia-raised midfielder Jaromír Zmrhal is leaving the club after 15 years, joining Serie A newcomers Brescia Calcio.
“I am glad I could play for Slavia for my whole life. But now something new is coming. I always wished to play abroad. Now I got an offer I would like to try, and Slavia allowed me to do so. Opportunity in Serie A is something I never expected to come,” Zmrhal says.

“I never regretted staying in Slavia for such a long time. There were some offers before but always when Slavia needed help, I stayed because I knew I could help the club. I like Slavia and it will never change. Now there are great players in the club and great people in the management and I think they can do it without me this time,” 26-year old midfielder added.

Jaromír Zmrhal joined Slavia youth academy 15 years ago, in July 2004 in the age of 10. He made his debut for the first team in 2012 in the age of 18 in the game of 2012/13 Czech league 1st round against Vysočina Jihlava. A month later Zmrhal scored his maiden goal for the first team against Zbrojovka Brno.

In 2014 he helped Slavia to avoid relegation in what was the worst season in club’s modern history, and later he gradually became one of the key players for Slavia returning to its former glory. In 2017 and 2019 Zmrhal became league champion with the red-whites, in 2018 and 2019 he also lifted the Czech Cup. In 2018/19 the left winger contributed with 2 goals and 2 assists to qualification for the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals.

In 309 overall games Jaromír Zmrhal scored 39 goals for Slavia (187 league games, 26 goals). Nowadays he was the second-longest serving player in the first team after captain Milan Škoda.

Good luck in Italy, Zmrhy!
