Hello Europe, we are back!

PRAGUE – Slavia are back! Thanks to the fifth place in Synot liga and victory of Mladá Boleslav in the domestic cup, the sewn-ones will once again join the European competitions.
It took over six years to fight the way back but Slavia secured a UEFA Europa League spot for the following season. The sewn-ones enter the competition in the second qualifying round, the first leg is played on 14 July 2016, the second one a week later. The second qualifying round draw will be made on 20 June in Nyon.

“We are happy and excited that the fifth place was enough to reach the UEFA Europa League. Clubs like Slavia belong to Europe and I am glad we made it, although with a help from Boleslav. I am certain that we will be ready and we will enjoy our return alongside our fans,” says the head coach Dušan Uhrin.

“These are the matches that we play football for. It will be undoubtedly a huge experience for Slavia’s young squad and I believe that we are good enough to succeed. It is a reward for our amazing fans and we are looking forward to playing in Europe,” smiles defender Jiří Bílek.

“It is almost unreal,” beams Tomáš Souček. “I can’t wait and I am thrilled that we will be playing in Europe this season,” adds the 21-year-old midfielder. There is only thing that could possibly ruin the cheerful mood in Slavia – the holidays are shorter and the training starts on 2 June. A price, that everyone is willing to pay.
