Filip Horský Best Player of UEFA For Players Educational Programme

The Slavia Youth Academy places great stress on players’ education. Filip Horský from the U17 squad having ranked as first in the UEFA For Players app, part of the Youth Champions League, only proves this to be true.

Professional football can be a daunting proposition for players at any stage of their career. Aside from trying to impress and build a career on the field, footballers also have to navigate numerous potential pitfalls of it, such as dealing with instant fame and fortune and the media exposure and scrutiny this brings. This is why UEFA has launched, as part of the Youth Champions League, the UEFA For Players initiative which seeks to help elite footballers in all aspects of their profession - on and off the pitch.

UEFA For Players is a combination of different resources, including face-to-face seminars during tournaments and online-based seminars. Meanwhile, on a day-to-day basis, players are able to access an app that guides them through eight essential topics affecting the lives of professional footballers. The UEFA For Players app contains a wide range of educational modules on the various topics, all based on immersive simulation videos and real-life case studies: how to prepare for what follows after the end of the sports career, how to set an example for young players, how to interact with fans and media, how to resist immoral requests or how to contribute to the society.

This season saw Filip Horský from the U17 team taking the first place in the competition of 2560 participating players from 64 different teams. Filip belongs to the 40 Slavia players nominated for the Youth Champions League.

“I launched the app and saw eight different football topics. Each topic featured a video followed by related questions. I gained ranking points for each topic,” the seasonal winner explains. “I am surely happy for every victory. This may not be an on-pitch victory but counts nevertheless.”

Filip, congratulations from the whole club!
