Zbrojovka Brno - Slavia
Slavia defeated Zbrojovka Brno after two games without a win. The only goal of the game was scored by Stanislav Tecl on 71st minute. It was Tecl’s 50th goal in the Czech league.
Slavia desperately needed to improve their reputation after a surprising loss to another relegation-candidates Zlín last week. Coach Trpišovský made six changes in the starting line-up. After a long break Michael Ngadeu started as centre-back, with Sýkora missing Bořil made his appearance as a winger.

Just two minutes into the game Slavia could open the score when Stoch found Škoda in front of an open net but our captain could not deflect the sharp cross between the posts.

The red & whites played better in the opening minutes but Stoch’s shot was blocked by one of the defending players and Frydrych was denied by Melichárek with his header.

After half an hour Škoda headed the ball over the crossbar following Hromada’s cross. Shorty afterwards it was Slavia captain again who missed target with his header after a corner kick.

But Zbrojovka had their chances too. Michal Škoda – brother of Slavia captain Milan Škoda – fired from inside the box at minute 32, but his shot was deflected by Hušbauer resulting in a corner. Polák’s shot few minutes later resulted in the same situation.

On the beginning of the second half coach Trpišovský changed the tacticat to 4-4-2 when Tecl replaced Hromada, but it was Miroslav Stoch who was close to the opening goal first. However, Zbrojovka goalkeeper Melichárek produced a perfect save against his volley from inside the box.

Tecl’s time came on 71st minute. Slavia striker appeared unattended on the near post after Hušbauer’s corner and headed the ball to the far post. Slavia was finally leading 1-0.

And the red & whites kept the result till the final whistle despite Acosta’s chance to equalize following Kolář’s mistake on the brink of the box. Slavia goalkeeper couldn’t catch the long ball and Acosta could shoot into an open net, but Kolář returned just in time to kick his low shot out.

Slavia thus remain on the second place after the 23rd round, 4 points ahead Olomouc and Liberec, 5 points ahead Jablonec. Zbrojovka sits on 15th place of the league table just one point ahead of Baník Ostrava and will have to fight hard to avoid relegation.
