Champions Group Preview: Slavia v Plzeň

Slavia go into the key game of Champions Group 6 points clear, but Plzeň haven’t lost 12 league games in a row.

Slavia face Viktoria Plzeň home at Sinobo Stadium in 2 nd round of Champions Group on Wednesday, 24 June, from 8 pm. Both teams entered the Champions Group with a win. The red and whites won 3-1 away at Baník, Plzeň defeated Jablonec 2-0 home.

Viktoria won all their spring games under new manager Adrián Guľa, except of the one away at Slavia (0-0 draw). In 11 games, they scored impressive 27 goals and conceded only 3. Viktoria lost only one game in spring 2020, the MOL Cup semi-final at Sparta (1-2) a week ago.

Slavia are now 6 points clear on top of the league with 4 games left. If the red and whites win, they would be 9 points ahead of Viktoria with better mutual games (1-0 and 0-0 this season) which means they would secure the Czech title. In case of a draw, Slavia will have to get at least 3 points in remaining 3 games. In case of a loss, the gap between both clubs will shrink to 3 points.
