Another game we want to win

Slavia can secure the UEL Round of 32 on Thursday against Beer Sheva. „I am glad we play well third season in the row,” says Slavia manager Jindřich Trpišovský.

The red and whites can secure the qualification for the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 in the home game against Hapoel Beer Sheva on Thursday. “I am glad we play so well in the third consecutive season. Now it is completely different team than the one I started with. When you watch the Sevilla game in spring 2019, the change has been huge,” Trpišovský says.

“This year we have we have one top Bundesliga and one top French team in the group, and we can qualify for the next stage with one game to go. I really appreciate it, even more when I consider how young players we have in the team - Zima, Sima, Oscar or Lingr. There are many players around 20 years old and this is their first season in Slavia and their first year in European cups.”

“I am glad the team can compete with such big clubs. Our performances are far from perfect, but I am happy that the lads can replace the imperfections with fighting spirit and enthusiasm. These lads can follow the footsteps of those who played here European cups in the last two seasons,” continues boss.

One point would be enough for Slavia to qualify for the spring part of the UEFA Europa League. “We cannot think on it. On Thursday it will be another game we want to win. We must play as we are used to, I don’t think we are a team which would be able to play for a draw. It would not be good to change anything. The situation is similar to our game against Zenit St. Petersburg two years ago. The more goals we score, the more difficult position we create for our opponents,” Trpišovský explains.

Slavia played Beer Sheva away more than a month ago and lost 1-3. “It It was the first game in the group, both teams are in a different mood now. Beer Sheva play the same style in all game - against Nice or Leverkusen or in in the league. Counter-attacks are their biggest weapon and their game is based on solid defence.”

No players were tested positive during the last test earlier this week. Only the injured players - Hovorka, Takács and Malínský - will thus miss the game. The match against Hapoel Beer Sheva starts on Thursday, 3 December, at 9 pm CET at Eden Arena and will be broadcasted live by Czech TV Sport.
