Slavia hit post three times in the opening half. With 20 minutes on the clock Lukáš Provod curled his shot from the edge of the box on the left side, but the ball only hit the far post. 10 minutes later Zafeiris got to the ball after Jurečka’s blocked shot and sent his effort to the crossbar.

After 42 minutes Mick van Buren stood face-to-face with Zlín goalkeeper Dostál but sent the ball only to his legs. In the added time Dostál managed to block Lingr’s header after a corner and after another one Mick van Buren’s header was blocked by Dostál again and hit the left post.

Slavia managed to take lead shortly after the break. Zafeiris sent a long cross into the box, Jurečka managed to pass the ball to Ondřej Lingr and our forward fired the ball through Dostál. 1-0.

In the 52nd minute Václav Jurečka could add second when Zlín goalkeeper blocked Lingr’s effort and the ball rebounded in front of the goal, but Dostál managed to block Jurečka’s rebound too with a superb flying save.

The Red-Whites doubled their lead after an hour of the play. Provod sent a low cross from the left wing, Mick ban Buren got to the ball on the front post and sent it past Dostál. 2-0.

Slavia created many other chances but could not get past the away goalkeeper. On the other side Zlín slowly started to show signs of coming back into the game as the half progressed but scored the only goal in the 84th minute when Slavia centre-back Tomáš Vlček deflected Černín’s header and the ball found the back of the net.

Despite the late Zlín goal Slavia managed to keep their lead and won 2-1. The Red-Whites remain 100% after the opening 3 rounds of the 2023/24 season as one of only two teams of the league table.
