Slavia took an early lead aggainst Midtjylland, but the Danes came from behind to win 4-1. Slavia will play the Europa League this season.
Manager Jindřich Trpišovský made two changes compared to the first against FC Midtjylland. Striker Stanislav Tecl and defender David Zima were replaced by Lukáš Provod and Ondřej Kúdela respectively.

Slavia started with a 4-1-4-1 line-up with Jan Bořil and Vladimír Coufal playing as full-backs, Ondřej Kúdela and David Hovorka as centre-backs. Tomáš Holeš played in front of the defence. The midfield was composed of Peter Olayinka, Nicolae Stanciu, Petr Ševčík and Lukáš Provod. Lukáš Masopust appeared in an unusual role when he started as a striker.

And it was Slavia who managed to break the deadlock of the tie and took the early lead. Peter Olayinka scored in the third minute after a cross from the corner kick by Nicolae Stanciu.

The opening 30 minutes offered a tight match with a few minor chances on both sides. Midtjylland had two big chances in the 21st and 29th minute finished with a shot, one missing the goal and the other one blocked by Ondřej Kolář, but both were ruled out for an offside.

After the break, Slavia set the pace for some 15 minutes, but then Midtjylland started to create opportunities. The hosts tied the game in 65th minute when Mabil sent the ball into the penalty area and Ondřej Kolář was beaten by Kaba’s header.

After 79 minutes a crucial moment of the game came. A penalty was awarded for Midtjylland after Holeš’s handplay. Ondřej Kolář saved the first attempt by Scholz, however, the penalty was awarded again for Kolář stepping few centimetres away from the goal line. Given a second chance, Scholz gave the hosts lead in the 84th minute scoring from the spot.

After a VAR controversial decision, Slavia couldn’t find enough strength to fight back. In the 87th minute Onyeka scored third for Midtjylland, Dreyer then made it 4_1 in the added time.

After a tight match, Slavia lost 1-4 away against FC Midtjylland. The UCL door remain shut this time, we will play the UEFA Europa League this season.
