Liberec - Slavia
Several Slavia players and staff members, including manager Jindřich Trpišovský, returned to Liberec where they have been working during the autumn part of the season. And the reunion was far from ideal for Slavia as the goalless draw means significant loss in the title contest.
Manager Trpišovský used almost the same line-up as in the victorious MOL Cup semi-final against Mladá Boleslav. The only change was Stanislav Tecl replacing Tomáš Necid as a striker. Milan Škoda and Jaromír Zmrhal were ready on the bench after recovering from their injuries.

First chance was created by Slovan when Breite latched onto a free ball and fired it over the crossbar. After 10 minutes, Kolář found Tecl with a long kick-off but our striker’s effort was blocked at the very last moment. Jugas then headed the ball just into the hands of Slovan goalkeeper following the corner kick.

After half an hour Sýkora got the ball following a long throw-in but his attempt from inside the box missed the far post. Shortly before the break, Hušbauer could fire from a similar position only to hit the post.

The red & whites were even closer to an opener at minute 58. After a corner kick Stanislav Tecl returned the ball on the far post and Michael Ngadeu headed it into the net, but the goal was disallowed due to Ngadeu’s offside position.

Slavia held the ball but failed to create big chances. On the other side it was Potočný who fired a dangerous shot on 65th minute but missed the target narrowly.

Slavia gained the advantage of one more man on 77th minute when Pulkrab was sent-off following a second yellow card after a foul on Bořil, but the red & whites could not utilize their chance.

The game was extremely tough with 12 yellow cards and one red card overall. 8 bookings for Slavia players is the biggest number in the history of independent Czech league – the biggest number for red & whites so far was 7 vs. Plzeň (2012/13 home) and Sparta (2015/16 away).

Following a 0-0 draw Slavia is now 7 points behind Plzeň with 5 games remaining. Sigma on the third place is now 4 points behind the sewn-ones.
