Slavia Prague - 2016/17 Czech Champions!

PRAGUE/STRAHOV - Slavia are champions of 2016/2017 Czech ePojisteni.cz League! The sewn-ones confirmed their title by beating Zbrojovka Brno 4-0 and finished the competition 2 points ahead former champions Viktoria Plzeň.
The sewn-ones competed for the title till the last round with ruling champions Viktoria Plzeň. Slavia get to the first spot in round 25 and kept Plzeň at bay until the very end.

After the current manager Jaroslav Šilhavý took over Slavia in September 2016 the club did not lose a single league game. The record under Šilhavý is 19-7-0.

The 2016/17 record in the Czech Premier League is 20-9-1 with score of 65:22. That means Slavia are the best attacking team in the competition.

Slavia has won fourth league titles since the foundation of the Czech league in 1993, 18th Czech or Czechoslovak title altogether. In 1996 the first Czech title marked the end of a 49-years-long waiting since the last Czechoslovak title in 1947.

In 2008 and 2009 the club seized two titles in a row under the coach Karel Jarolím. 2007/08 was also the last time Slavia took part in the UEFA Champions League. The club will now take part in 2017/18 Champions league 3rd qualifying round.

Winning Finish to a Golden Season. Champions Defeat Plzeň

Wearing a special set of charity kits, Slavia Prague defeated Viktoria Plzeň 3–0 in the final match of the season. The champions opened the scoring with quick-fire goals from Chaloupek and Suleiman, before Chytil added a penalty before half-time. The celebrations could then begin in Eden with the “Garden Party for a Good Cause.”

Defeat in Hradec. Debutant Kohout Scores Slavia’s Only Goal

The Chance Liga champions suffered a 3–1 defeat away to Hradec Králové in the penultimate round of the season. The Votroci remained the only team Slavia failed to beat this season. Slavia’s only goal came late on through debutant Dan Kohout.

CHAMPIONS 23. Victory over Jablonec Secures Back-to-Back Titles

Slavia Prague defeated Jablonec 5–1 in the third round of the championship group and secured the league title. The goals that sealed the successful defence of last year’s triumph came from Štěpán Chaloupek, who scored twice, Samuel Isife, Mojmír Chytil and Tomáš Holeš. The visitors’ only reply came through Sobol. It is the 23rd league title in the club’s history. CONGRATULATIONS. THANK YOU!
