MVB: The goal was a relief

PRAGUE/EDEN ARENA – With Milan Škoda sick and Muris Mešanovič injured, the Dutch forward Mick van Buren suddenly became number one for Jaroslav Šilhavý’s starting 11. And his effort started to pay off in the game against Mladá Boleslav. MVB scored his maiden goal in the Czech league and it was not his last word.
“Slavia already needed such a good game, we can all agree on this. Mostly the goals were needed, because the play, as I think, was also good on Wednesday against APOEL. But we needed goals and it was an important win,” Mick van Buren said after the game.

The Dutch striker scored both his goals in the first period. “Maybe the first goal was more difficult, the header was a bit difficult. Before the second goal there was a good cross from Jary [Jaromír Zmrhal] but Hušby [Josef Hubauer] prepared the first one also very well. So there were two very good crosses and I am very happy with the two goals of mine,” MVB continued.

What differed the game against Mladá Boleslav from the UCL game vs. APOEL? “I think when the first goal went in it was a relief for us. We could play a bit easier and we have felt more confident. I think that has helped us a lot.”

Is the position in front more suitable for van buren than the winger? “I think I can play both, I have always played as a striker in my previous clubs. I think that against APOEL and Mladá Boleslav I showed I can play as a striker in Slavia as well. I have the dynamic qualities which can be used on both positions actually,” the Man of the Match award holder concluded.
