Leaving for Leicester

Slavia left for the United Kingdom on Tuesday afternoon. The UEL Round of 32 second leg against Leicester will be played on Thursday.

Slavia drew in Teplice on Sunday, Leicester managed to defeat Aston Villa 2-1 at the weekend. The second leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 will be played at Leicester City Stadium on Thursday from 9 pm CET.

“This game is a special occasion. We are all looking forward to it - the players, the club, our fans. We have a good starting position from the home game. We will do everything to succeed,” assistant coach Zdeněk Houštecký said.

“It will be a hard game for us, but I believe we are ready, and we will go through,” added Peter Olaiynka before the departure from Prague.

The team for the second leg is almost complete, from the UEL squad only Stanislav Tecl and Petr Ševčík stay at home as both are recovering from Covid-19 and their quarantine ended on Sunday. Tomáš Holeš’ start is doubtful due to an ankle injury from the first game. Denis Višinský completed Slavia squad from B-list.

The Chance Liga champions suffered a 3–1 defeat away to Hradec Králové in the penultimate round of the season. The Votroci remained the only team Slavia failed to beat this season. Slavia’s only goal came late on through debutant Dan Kohout.

CHAMPIONS 23. Victory over Jablonec Secures Back-to-Back Titles

Slavia Prague defeated Jablonec 5–1 in the third round of the championship group and secured the league title. The goals that sealed the successful defence of last year’s triumph came from Štěpán Chaloupek, who scored twice, Samuel Isife, Mojmír Chytil and Tomáš Holeš.
