Hovorka out due to cruciate ligament injury

David Hovorka will undergo surgery after his injury in Plzeň away game. Slavia will have to get by without one of their key players for several months.
Slavia centre back who has been voted the man of the Match against Barcelona by Slavia fans suffered the injury after an hour of the game between Viktoria Plzeň and Slavia. First medical in Military University Hospital in Prague confirmed the worst diagnosis – torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Hovorka will undergo other medicals on Monday and the hospital staff together with club doctors will decide about the date of the surgery. His recovery is expected to be long.

David Hovorka had to step down after 61 minutes of the game against Plzeň. He was substituted by Michal Frydrych and Slavia kept their 1-0 lead in the key game of autumn season. We wish David the best of luck in his fight. The club will do maximum for his fastest possible return on the pitch.

Tomas Chory opened the scoring early, and Oscar sealed the dramatic win in the 87th minute to break the deadlock. It was Slavia’s 20th consecutive home league victory, surpassing a nearly century-old club record.

​The champions of this season’s Chance Liga returned to Fortuna Arena in style. In the 2nd round of the championship group, they erased a two-goal deficit against Plzen and claimed a thrilling 4–3 win — their third victory over the West Bohemian side this season. Goals from Schranz, Zafeiris, Zima, and Holes secured the triumph in front of 18,413 fans. Slavia remain perfect at home in this league campaign!
