A goal we needed

Tomáš Holeš made his centre-back debut at Arsenal and equalised late on with a header after Provod´s corner.

On his last-minute goal

“It was our last corner. I told to myself, let’s go and score. Someone deflected the ball in front of the goal and I just jumped against the ball. And it did work out. It has been a euphoric moment. Important goal in the 90th minute, away at Arsenal. It gives us quite a favourable position for the second leg. We needed that goal.”

On his centre-back debut

“It was difficult to play es a centre-back for the first time, here at Arsenal. There were difficult situations to solve, even though the lads tried to help me, especially Koli [Ondřej Kolář] talked to me a lot. I think we did well. When you play against Arsenal, you can be sure they will create some chances. Unfortunately, they managed to score too.”

On the importance of Ondřej Kolář

“It was really important that he started, we all hoped that he would bounce back. We are used to playing with him, he is a great goalkeeper, his style of play helps us a lot. We were glad he would be able to join us.”

On the second leg

“It will be a difficult game. We will have to improve our movement on the pitch to be more dangerous, and we will have to be strong in defence. Even a goalless draw would put us through.”
